Maybe even the sense that you’re failing at this whole mom thing.
Ten years ago, after the birth of my first son, Wolfgang, I was navigating something brand new with little support.
I realized how difficult breastfeeding was, and also how badly I wanted to have those magical moments with him.
My success with Wolfgang was hard won.
Then came Oxley, then Teddy.
I discovered I wasn’t able to apply the rulebook I had cobbled together with Wolfgang…every baby was so different–which meant our breastfeeding relationships were, too.
Through lots of tears, countless doctor’s appointments, sorting through often conflicting information, and with lots of support from my husband Joe, I met my goals.
When other moms learned about my experiences, they started to come to me for advice.
I knew there was a need for more support.
That’s why I created Lollies Lactation.
Finding my own breastfeeding success was so difficult and so rewarding that I’ve dedicated myself to making it easier for other moms.
Armed with my nursing degree, I’ve earned International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® certification and Family Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
We recently welcomed our fourth, baby girl Birdie, who has become quite the mascot for Lollies and even inspired my first online course.
I’m grateful to have found my purpose: helping moms and families provide the best for their newborns–whatever that looks like for them.
We have many options from breastfeeding or chestfeeding to exclusive pumping and, yes, formula. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
I’m proud that Lollies Lactation represents an open and inclusive practice.

Alina Rivera
Lactation Consultant

My name is Alina! I am a Registered Dietitian and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I became an IBCLC in 2019 so I could serve families and help them meet their infant feeding goals.
I have been a dietitian since 2014 and later earned my Master’s in Public Health in Maternal and Child Health alongside my IBCLC. Each of these taught me that lactation goes beyond just a baby eating at the breast/chest. There are so many nuances in infant feeding, and I truly enjoy helping families navigate and overcome them. Like many in this field, my personal experiences and passions drive me to better serve families every day.
When I first became a mom in 2021, I learned firsthand how humbling lactation challenges can be while recovering postpartum. Welcoming my third child in 2026 continued to enlighten me on the many real-life experiences families face after bringing a precious new baby into the world. These experiences strengthen my desire to help parents through challenges like latching difficulties, weight gain or milk production concerns, pumping and flange fitting, food reactivity, introducing solids, tethered oral ties, and truly any obstacle thrown their way.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, two boys, and daughter. You will find us outdoors during the warmer weather working off that boy energy! Additionally, I consider myself a foodie. I really enjoy eating and trying new recipes. I also enjoy a good cup of coffee and conversation to fuel the soul.

Hi, I'm Kristen! Over the last 10 years, I’ve worked in placental tissue banking, where I developed a passion for supporting mothers and babies. As a former Lollies client, I also know how much compassionate education and unwavering support matter when navigating life with a new baby. I’m here to manage the practice’s daily operations so Kacie and Alina can focus on providing that care! Outside of work, I enjoy horseback riding, visiting NC’s lakes and beaches with my husband and two sons, and relaxing at home with our cats, dog and my ever-growing houseplant collection.
